WOR057 Combattants Namur

The project stands out for its innovative and special character thanks to several key elements.
Faced with a difficult location between bridges and railway lines, traditional construction methods were impractical. That's why prefabrication proved to be a sensible solution, with elements such as column beams, honeycomb slab floors and aluminium façades manufactured in the workshop and assembled on site. This approach allowed for easier implementation despite the logistical challenges of the site.

In addition to this technical solution, the shape of the building itself is innovative. Evoking that of a ship in the middle of railway tracks, its structure adapts to the triangular geometry of the terrain. The building, which is wider at the base, narrows at each floor, emphasising the narrowness of the site and giving a distinct identity to the entrance to the town. What's more, the choice of aluminium cladding adds a modern, sparkling touch, like a jewel in the sunlight, reinforcing the innovative aesthetic of the whole.

The construction programme involved the exciting challenge of designing a 6,000 square metre, seven-storey office building. This project represents the first milestone in a master plan for the future renovation of the station and the industrial zone along the railway tracks, setting it apart from future projects.
